Access and Inclusion

We pride ourselves at creating memorable experiences that are inclusive and accessible. We continually seek to improve our guest experience. This guide is designed to assist guests with the planning of their visit.

Inclusiveness

We pay our respect to all cultures and people who visit Potager. Our menu reflects the diversity of cuisines from the people who make up Australia, with Asian, European, Middle Eastern and other influences from a variety of countries. Our restaurant, gardens and experiences can be enjoyed by all regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, cultural beliefs, religion, ethnicity, age, level of mobility and disability.

We are proud members of Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australian (GALTA), have trained our team in disability and inclusive awareness and are flexible to accommodate guests with special or specific needs.

We always seek to accommodate specific dietary needs. For example, our menu is predominantly gluten free (GF) to cater for the growing number of guests with gluten intolerance or coeliac disease, and most menu items have a dairy free option. We receive a variety of other dietary requests – also asking guests to indicate these at time of booking if possible, so we know in advance and can advise them how we can support their particular dining requirements. Our goal is to give guests with specific needs the same great dining experience as for guests with no specific dietary requirements.

Accessibility

Location and Transport

Potager is located at 502 Carool Road Carool. Just a short 20-minute drive from the Gold Coast Airport.

The majority of guests drive to Potager and we strongly recommend car pooling to maximise the number of available parking spots for guests. This is also better for the environment.

For public transport options, guests can order Uber or Taxis. Ubers can sometimes be difficult to secure for the journey home and we recommend the use of Tweed Taxis who have proven to be the most reliable. The can be booked online here or by calling 133 432.

For larger groups, 12+ we recommend the use of  Tweed Coast Tours and Charters. They can also be contacted by calling Pete on 0411 499 902.

Booking Process

Our comprehensive booking system is available via the ‘Book a Table’ button or Reservation Page on our website, providing for full table availability and instant confirmation of bookings. For larger groups, or any specific requests these can be made by phone us on 07 55907403 or by emailing us at info@potager.com.au

On Arrival

Potager has a flat, fully sealed carpark for 18 cars, including a disabled parking spot. There is limited walking required to enter the restaurant (20 to 40m) via our complaint ramp access and is wheelchair, walker, and pram friendly.

We have a covered waiting area should there be more than one party arriving at the same time. At time of booking guests have the choice of seating inside the restaurant or on our covered verandah. When they are met at reception, we confirm their seating arrangement and any accessibility requirements, dietary needs and any other special requests they may have.

Toilet Facilities

We have 2 unisex toilets, one wheelchair accessible with a low accessible hand basin. Braille signage is on both doors.

Hearing impaired

Restaurants can be extremely noisy. If guests indicate they have hearing difficulties, we recommend that they sit inside as the restaurant ceiling has been fitted with acoustic panels to reduce noise. We have a small private room. We offer this to those with hearing difficulties if available.

Dogs

Guide Dogs and Companion Animals

We allow access for guide dogs and companion animals throughout the restaurant and provide them with water. They are not permitted to be fed at the table.

Pets

Guests are permitted to dine with dogs only on our verandah. They must remain on a leash and not permitted to be fed at the table. We will provide them with water. Should they be an annoyance to other guests, we will require them to be removed and placed on a leash in the garden.

Gardens

Guests are free to walk around both our produce and ornamental gardens. During times of rain, the lawns can become extremely muddy so we advise guests to reconsider touring the gardens at that time as the ground can become slippery. As we are on a rural property, guests should also keep on the lookout for snakes.
